You know, your food intake is important once you know that you suffer from diabetes. Having eaten yourself into the medical shape, the time has come for you to eat yourself out of it. That, you get to do by sticking strictly to doctors medication and eating orders. No doubt.
Blood sugar control is what the doctor is trying to do when they ask you to cut down on your sweet and high calorie foods. It is in your own best interest to cooperate with them all the way, after all, it is your life they are trying to save.
